What can this connection do?

Run a test to see what your speed is good for.

WhenDownUpPingJitter
The test sends and receives test data from a nearby Cloudflare server and measures how fast your device can do it. Nothing about you is stored on our server; the recent results above are kept only in this browser. A test uses roughly 50-150 MB of data on a fast connection.

How accurate is this speed test?

It opens several parallel connections to a nearby server and measures the data that actually arrives (and leaves) after a short warm-up, which is how most speed tests work. For the best reading, close other downloads, streaming and VPNs, and test close to the router.

Why is my speed lower than what my plan says?

Plans list the maximum speed on the wire. Wi-Fi distance, other devices, an old router, your phone or laptop, and busy hours all reduce what you actually get. Try the test next to the router, or over a LAN cable.

What are ping and jitter?

Ping is how long a tiny message takes to reach the server and come back, in milliseconds. Jitter is how much that time changes from one message to the next. Low ping and low jitter matter most for gaming and video calls.

How much data does a test use?

It depends on your speed, because the test runs for a fixed time. On a fast connection a standard test can use 50-150 MB, so use the Quick option on a limited mobile data plan.
